Hello Gabriola! I am Lesley. My family and I have been on Gabriola for a year now and we love it here. I am a nurse by trade and some of you may have seen me if you had to visit Nanaimo Regional General Hospital. I am mom to Shea and Sydney, and my husband Pat is also a part of the department. If not riding the ferry to work or taking a new course, you can find me biking in the 707 or at the beach kayaking or paddle boarding with the kids.
What I love about being a part of the fire department: What do I not love is really a better question! I am elated to be a part of GVFD. I love being around like minded people who are bettering themselves to in turn better their community. We are constantly learning new skills, whether it be driving an apparatus, traffic control, first responder skills, low angle rescue. It's endless what the fire department can teach!. The senior leadership and members have welcomed me with open arms and are eager to teach and set us up for success everyday.
What scares me most: parallel parking the fire truck 😂😂😂
