Change in Hiring Decision at GVFD

We would like to inform the public of a recent decision made by the GVFD (Gabriola Volunteer Fire Department). After careful consideration, the GVFD has decided not to hire a Training Officer for a one-year term. Instead, we have chosen to pursue an alternative direction for now.

This decision was not made lightly, as the GVFD aims to provide the highest level of training and expertise to our dedicated team of firefighters. However, upon careful evaluation of our current resources and future plans, we have determined that going in a different direction is the best course of action at this time.

We would like to assure the public that this change in hiring decision does not compromise the safety or efficiency of our firefighting operations. The GVFD remains committed to ensuring the utmost professionalism and effectiveness in serving our community.

While we appreciate the valuable role a Training Officer could play in enhancing our training programs, we have identified alternative methods and strategies to achieve our training goals. These approaches will still provide our firefighters with the necessary skills and knowledge to carry out their duties with the utmost competence.

We would like to express our gratitude to all the candidates who showed interest in the position. The decision not to hire a Training Officer for a one-year term does not reflect on their qualifications or abilities. The GVFD sincerely appreciates the passion and dedication demonstrated by all applicants.

As always, the GVFD remains dedicated to serving our community with the highest standards of professionalism and proficiency. We assure you that our commitment to ongoing training and development for our firefighters will continue unabated.

Thank you for your understanding and support as we embark on this new direction for the GVFD.
